Hi my name is Karl I'm a woodworking instructor and social media content creator. I love woodworking and began this journey in 1995 completing my Carpentry & Journey and City & Guilds level 3 advanced craft in furniture making. I then joined the British army for 18.5 years before picking up my tools again in early 2018 as a hobby, moving full time in early 2021 making furniture and then again becoming full time teaching and content creator early 2022. Phew that was a lot in a short time. Thank you for watching my channel and taking the time to read some of my story. We also have a second channel on RUclips all about restoration and upcycling called Upcycle Furniture Finds.

SECRETS Revealed Painting Furniture In A Small Workshop
Just purchased mine, hopefully the fence issue has been dealt with, if not, make me own fence
Really appreciate the tip, mate.
Your more than welcome mate.
Maybe show the end result more than 1/5th of a second?!?
Chill out it's only a short video
@@karlpopewoodcraft its a useless one at that!
Great stuff mate, but i think i got auto corrected in the member list 😂 -- Fixed Fingers
Woops haha typical Karl 🤣 cheers for watching mate.
Thank you for making this video. I think I finally know how to fix the fridge door that has been wobbly for over two years! You make it look very easy! Thanks!
Thank you, your welcome. Good luck with your fix.
The bit you missed out was checking the back of the blade for fused on rubber from the track. My blade went out of balance because of it. You might need a bit of white spirit or some other solvent to get it off. Bit of a design flaw if you ask me.
That's one I've never experienced or heard of before. What exactly happened?
@@karlpopewoodcraft I got the saw last year with the DeWalt track and initialised the track as per instructions. I used it for a job, all fine but as time went by using it on various small tasks, I noticed a vibration when cutting. I thought maybe I should change the blade because some people recommend changing out the stock blade so I took it out. When I inspected it, there was a flat, broad black fused rubber ring on the reverse side of the blade and also fused rubber on the inside of the hardened teeth. It was actually difficult to remove i.e. didn't just peel off, it was firmly adhered to the surface of the blade and only a good scrubbing with a cloth and some methylated spirits did the job. It was obvious where the black rubber had come from. The vibration was much reduced after cleaning, though I would not say it runs like a Rolls Royce. It cuts reasonably OK. Overall, I think it is OK for the money but it is cheaply made and a bit disappointing but I guess you get what you pay for. Just my opinion of course.
Hey Karl. Good video. I have to build an Urn for my wife. I like the fact that you give instructions on what you are doing. Most guys just show them building an Urn. That teaches me nothing. I will use your video to guide me in building my wife's Urn. Thanks for sharing.👍👍🍁
Thank you, condolences for your losses, I hope you're project goes well.
Say it as it is Karl, spot on mate
Haha 😄 I was in a good mood 😅
Great tip Karl
Thanks for supporting my channel mate, legend.
Nice cut, Karl
Hey cheers Shaun, it's a cracking saw from evolution this one.
Top Job Karl
Cheers Shaun 🍻
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Quality tradesman, excellent work 👏
Thank you 😊
Pro ish my arse thats a complete Pro job. Pro ish is my attempt at what am doing just now kicking my arse and at 65 quid a sheet for the 9mm mdf kinda puckering my arse doing it as well 👍🏴
Haha cheers Michael, I don't do these everyday so I didn't want to say pro lol 😆 not bad though 😉 good luck with your project mate.
@@karlpopewoodcraft yea cheers m8 might need it. I'll email ya pics on what an doing. Tried get out of it but guy wasn't taking no for an answer 😬 It's certianly a beautiful peice m8 looks wicked 🏴👍 oh I also pulled trigger and got that new Rutlands table saw it's a awesome bit kit
What happens if is splits after being in a house
This is definitely a possibility as there is no guarantee with Spruce even when dry. It's a terrible choice of timber to make furniture with and I'd advise against it. However this method gives it a chance, ours has a few cracks in but no cupping, it's rustic cheap furniture at the end of the day. I'm probably going to re finish mine this year and pour epoxy in the cracks. Good question thank you.
👍👍👍. Thank you Karl
Cheers mate 👍
Could've been perfect if only you took your time. Why use such a thick pencil line and not lay it up properly? I don't understand woodworkers at all.
I used a knife.
Nice job m8 cabinet looks wicked 🏴👍
Cheers mate
Very nice build Karl, keep it up matey
Thank you John.
Not a good job. Lol Measuring tape does it just fine. Did you get some tools for a present. 10min job. I must have taken you ages.
Ive had lots of tools for gifts so yes lol Please avoid watching two min craft videos, unknown person as you obviously have no clue on what your talking about. Bye Bye
There is always one mate. Good idea 👍
Don't like it don't watch take your comments and stick it. No need
Another great video Karl.
Thank you Craig 😊
Really enjoyed that. Cheers Karl. Good to see you on YT
Thank you Philip 😊
Not watched the entire video yet but so far you have used 9 electric tools to make this.
What is your point?
Hes back 😁 nice see you back m8 wicked build and good see am not the only one rocking the hairy chicken legs and shorts 👍🏴😉
Chicken legs how dare you 😤 🤣😂 cheers mate.
@@karlpopewoodcraft it's orite we can be a pair birds with plump breasts and chicken legs together. Oh information update pulled the trigger upgraded saw got the new Rutlands table saw now just gotta get it built into outfeed/workbench. Where's your workbench video can't find it?? 👍🏴
Great looking cabinet mate. Good video too with a slight change of style. Really enjoyed it.
Cheers mate, 🍻
👍👍👍 Great stuff. Thanks Karl
Thank you Pete 😊 🙏
Great watch Karl. Loved Jakob sat in the corner at the beginning like some kind of Zen Master 🤷♂️😂
Haha ye he pops in after work usually to give me advice 🤣 then goes home haha
Great editing, really chilled vibe of a guy doing what he's good at.
Thank you Daniel 😊
Great job Karl. These are the types of video I love to see you doing. Keep it up 🤛 👏
Thank you Michael 😊 🙏
It was great to see Jakob just sitting there as you were carrying the sheet material in 🤣. Oh and excellent bit of work
Haha ye 🤣 he normally pops in after work to supervise me for an hour 😅
@@karlpopewoodcraft ah, he's taken up the 'care in the community' role 😂
@@stuffbyneilsmith haha 😄 check on the elderly make sure I haven't chopped off a limb.
Excellent build. Also nice to see 'the boy' hanging around in the background. Although the same cant be said about those hairy legs in those short shorts 😂
Sorry mate it's summer so I'll be showing my lovely legs for a while yet 🤣 Jakob supervising as usual 😉
Hi Karl, nice alcove units,a great workshop project, Great video take care
Thank you Shaun 😀
Karl, that was superb. I have watched you from your very beginning with RUclips and you have soared to perfection. This vid format was mesmerising. A great build and you made it look so easy. I take my hat off to you mate, regards, Fred
Thank you Fred your support over the years has been really appreciated mate. 😊
That looks really nice! And the utility of this alcove will be enjoyed for a long time.
Thanks mate, full of Alfies toys already 😂
Thank you, it's getting well used as a toy cupboard already 😅
Fuck yiutube x x
I like this kind of content. Gives me motivation to sort out some my my own rooms. Jobs ive been putting off for too long! Good stuff Karl 👍🏻
Cheers Phil, alcove units in this weekends video then skirting next.
I will never buy an evolution saw because i mentioned it to wife about getting a new cross cut table saw and this ad pops up yiutube fuck that shit.
It's not an add. it's my initial opinion and thoughts on the saw. The saw is a cracking bit of kit and definitely Evolutions best work yet.
Warning - I got one of these and the long bottom edge of the razor is not parallel to the base, in fact the angle is easily seen even before I check it with an angle. I was wondering why my first few cuts with it run deeper than needed, and also why it seem to continue cutting when switching the direction 180... any advice about how to remedy this?
That's unfortunate I'd send it back and get a replacement.
Does it insulate heat completely
No, works decent though.
Looks amazing guys ❤ One problem the weather 😂
Summer might start soon you never know 🤣
Love this - we have wonky doors like this and loose screws - this looks like the answer !!! I also think the hinge may be jiggered but no idea what brand it is - is there a universal hinge? Also are you near to Driffield? Your accent sounds local ! May well call on you if so 😂 thanks for making such a useful and well explained video
Thank you, I'm in Hull 😆 the hinges are concealed overly type but there literally hundreds of different types. Maybe replace both top and bottom if one is broken.
at 10:10 with regards to repeatable cuts. With the Rage 5S, you can use the additional fence as a stop block. For safety, fitting the shallow fence, so that the front of it is 3cm's before the blade (it works just like your piece of wood; however, due to it being more secure, it is less likely to get dragged/pulled into the saw). The shallow fence will extend beyond the measuring gauge but not pass the blade.
Spot on advice Deanne 👌
@@karlpopewoodcraft hope that you find it useful.
Just bought one and today after assembling it, I am calibrating it. This is my first table saw. I practised on my friends prior to purchasing and loved it. So now I have my own. I have already got an evolution 2800mm track saw and Evolution DB mitre saw. Brilliant tools.
Excellent have fun and stay safe 😀
Hi.what spray can did u use? Thanks
Hi think it was 501 just a cheap brand.
Great video. Can i ask what depth you did the framework for the bar. Im thinking 450mm with 600mm top. Cheers
Honestly I can't remember off the top off my head but that sounds about right what your saying. Thank you
Thats great, im going to copy the way you done this 1 in my mancave bar. Cheers.
awesome video, I would recommend Fire Stove Rope around the edge to stop the heat transferring to the wood. I'll give this one a go for my new BBQ, thanks buddy.
Thanks mate, ye that sound like a good tip, ours has a little scorching, but nothing to bad.
No Sugi Ban though?
What do you mean?
Great episode dude. Really enjoying the tutorials 🤙
Cheers mate, much appreciated.
